“I wish we had a bigger house”; “I just need more time”; “If he would just put his dishes in the dishwasher; if I could just lose 10 pounds…”
How many times a day do you reflect on the things you DON’T have or DON’T LIKE?
We are constantly barraged with images of what ‘beautiful’ is, what ‘happiness’ is, or of how we should look and act. We’re left feeling like we are not good enough, rich enough, thin enough, doing enough.
This week, I am Practicing the Positive.
If/when a negative, ‘grass is greener’ thought arises I’m yelling “Stop!” (maybe not out loud, but in my head) and immediately thinking of something great that I’ve done or a quality I like in myself.
Not to get all Jack Handy (“I’m good enough, smart enough, and doggonit, people like me”) on you, but seriously people, focus on the positive.
(“I’m so grateful I can ambulate….I was never sold in to sex slavery….I have people to love in my life…at any moment I can break in to song or dance if I want to…maybe I will”)
Ever notice how others are drawn to positive, playful people? Stop moaning and groaning about what’s not perfect in your life and start appreciating the people and experiences you have. Be that fantastically fun and positive person.
